Frequently asked questions (FAq)

Why are we doing this?

Church librarians have  enjoyed meeting for many years. Recently, however, with the reduced involvement of state associations (Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Southern Baptists of Texas), we have simply missed those times of great fellowship and training. We all need the encouragement.

We know that some churches have dropped their libraries while others have added new ones. Staffs have changed. New librarians are begging for training. Now seems like the time to get back together!

Who is sponsoring this?

We are simply an ad hoc group of interested church librarians. We have all taught workshops in both state associations and miss those times. Names that you may or may not know are:

  • Karen Mars - First Baptist, Decatur
  • Nancy Uriniak  - First Baptist, Wichita Falls
  • Ruthe & Jerry Turner - First Baptist, Dallas
  • Anne & Glenn McEowen - Wedgwood Baptist, Fort Worth

Do I have to be a Baptist or a Texan to attend?

No, of course not! It is for any church and religious school librarians plus for anyone who might simply be interested in starting a library. We are definitely NOT limiting this to Texas either.

Is 'Texas Church Librarians' an ongoing Entity?

No real plans for that. Come on September 30th, and we can all decide together.

FOLLOW-UP: At the Fellowship, we decided to, at least, make this an annual event. So, let us know:

  • What we can do better?
  • Where we should have it?
  • Who else should participate (send us their email addresses)
